On July 26, 2025, the Maldives will open the doors to its long-anticipated new international terminal at Velana International Airport (MLE).
Coinciding with the country’s Independence Day, the launch marks a significant step in modernizing the main gateway to the islands.
As international arrivals continue to grow, the new terminal is set to replace the existing facility, offering a more seamless and spacious travel experience for visitors from around the world.
From Old to New: Transition in Motion

The transition from the current international terminal will begin with selected flights on July 26, with a phased move for international airlines taking place over the following weeks.
Once fully operational, the new terminal will serve as the main hub for all international departures and arrivals, while the older terminal will be retired from use.
